Castro Street Shopping District

Castro Street, Downtown Mountain View.

Castro Street, the heart of Mountain View, is a popular spot for night life, shopping and some of the area’s best destination dining. Among the major stores in the area are Books Inc., the region’s longest-standing independent bookseller, Giovanna’s Fine Jewelry, Plumeria and Alpine World.

Designed with pedestrians in mind, the district encompasses the City Hall, the public library, the Center for Performing Arts and Pioneer Park. The street is also the location of Thursday Night Live; throughout the summer, Castro Street is closed down to traffic the first Thursday of each month to host live music, a farmer’s market, activities for children and a display of classic cars.
