Mountain View Attractions![]() Computer History Museum1401 N. Shoreline Blvd., Mountain View; Wed–Sun, 10am–5pm; $15 for adults, $12 for students, seniors and active military; Tel. 650.810.1010. Home to the largest collection of artifacts related to the evolution of the information age, the Computer History Museum is easily one of the prides of the Silicon Valley. Since 1996, the collection has grown to include more than 90,000 objects, including the Apple-1, Apple’s first product, and the original Utah teapot, the 3-D-modeler’s version of a “hello world” program. The history of computing doesn’t stop there—the “Revolution” exhibit stretches back 2,000 years and includes dozens of types of abacus, the first mainframe computers, and components from Google’s original web server. Part of the permanent collection is also a reconstructed version of Charles Babbage’s computer engine that he never lived to see completed. |
