Mountain View Attractions![]() Shoreline Wildlife Refuge Area and TrailShoreline Park at the end of Shoreline Boulevard, Mountain View; free; Tel. 650.903.6392. Formerly a landfill, this sprawling 750-acre park is now a beautiful recreation area and wildlife refuge. The 50-acre man-made salt-water lake is a popular sailing spot with an aquatic center offering boat rentals and windsurfing classes, while the 18-hole golf course makes for an unusually scenic game. This summer, the center has all-day passes for boat rentals for $10 per person. The preserved natural areas are open to the public and include many acres of marshland that attract thousands of migratory birds each year—hands down a favorite spot for birdwatchers. A large network of trails attracts bikers and walkers, and connects with the Palo Alto Baylands, Crittenden Marsh and the Bay Loop Trail among others. Shoreline also includes a casual dining cafe open for breakfast and lunch. |
